Favorite Send to FastDrawA common screen the screener set ran by a lot of High School, College, and NBA teams was used by the Indiana Pacers against the Miami Heat. As you will see in most of Indiana's play sets they run a lot of stuff for their 3 man, #24 Paul George. Here they use George to set the back screen for the post before he runs off 5's screen for a wing catch. He has the option to shoot, drive, or dump it inside to the posting #55 Roy Hibbert. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawThe Miami Heat ran this two plays back to back last in during Game 4 of the NBA Finals versus the San Antonio Spurs. A trend in the NBA that I love and many coaches don't follow (which I don't understand why) is running plays that work in succession. If a play works well once, why not try it again and make your opponent guard it? That is what the Miami Heat did last night, Option 1 was a quick pin down for Ray Allen which led to an easy floater in the lane. The very next possession down the court the Heat ran the same action but the Spurs did a much better job defending and the Heat had to deviate to a different play. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawThis is a set the Indiana Pacers ran against the Miami Heat in the 2013 Eastern Conference Finals. Looking to get their marquee player, Paul George a isolated post/wing catch the Pacers sent #24 George to the opposite side of the court before coming back hard to the ball on the reversal for deep post position. If #24 George couldn't catch the ball deep he moved out to the mid-wing area for a catch. This is where Indiana ran a great alternative action to get an even deeper post touch. #50 Tyler Hansbrough after entering the ball to George comes down the lane and sets a screen for #55 Roy Hibbert right in the middle of the lane, who now gets a deep post catch right in the middle of the paint. Favorite Send to FastDrawBaseline out of bounds play run by the CT Sun in their 66-62 loss to the Mystics 6/7/2013. If the defense switches the 4 and 2 backscreen then 4 can slip to the basket with the mismatch. If 5's defender extends the screen and disconects from 5, 5 can slip to the basket. See More
Favorite Send to FastDraw"Miami Chest" is a ballscreen/flarescreen set to free up your guard for a shot. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawTook this from one of our conference opponents this past season. This play is best executed with a 5 that is a good passer. End result is a dunk or action for your best player coming off a ball screen. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawThis play has four scoring options starting with a high post rub cut by 3 off 5. Second, 1 drives off 5's on ball screen to score in the paint. Option #3 is a pass to 3 comig off double screen by 2-4 for a shot. Last option on 3's catch is 2 curling over 4 and 4 sealing to catch and score. Give it a try! See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawGame 3 of the NBA Finals was all about the San Antonio Spurs' role players, so what better way to recognize them than by drawing up one of their many 3-pointers. After an impressive 3 quarters from Danny Green and Gary Neal the Spurs continued their hot shooting by ranning this stagger action to get Neal yet another 3-pointer. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawHere is a set that Butler ran often for Gordon Hayward (3 in this set) to get him an ISO opportunity on his favorite side of the court. 2 cutting hard off of the stagger screen is essential so that x3 helps, giving 5 a great opportunity and angle to flare 3 out to the wing. Misdirection feel of this play by having all of the action go to the weak side up until the point of the flare from 5 also helps make this an effective set. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawElbow set run by the Heat in their game 5 win over the Pacers. Having a great shooter setting and running off screens forces the defense to provide a lot of help on the screens and be very active. Rolling James down the lane put a lot of pressure on the defense and it had to pull in leaving Haslem for the open jumper. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawLate in the 2nd quarter of Game 2 of the NBA Finals, the MIami Heat ran this pick & roll play for Lebron James which led to an open 3-pointer for Ray Allen. The spacing by the Miami Heat made this very difficult to guard. The Spurs were forced to defend Lebron on the pick which led to Ray Allen's defender rotating down to help Lebron found him easily on the wing. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawThe Miami Heat ran this play midway through the 1st quarter of Game 2 of the 2013 NBA Finals verus the San Antonio Spurs. Setting two different angled screens is very effective, especially when the opponent is flat hedging the screens. Further more, setting the screens lower and lower also makes it more difficult to guard because make the rotations off of shooters to help much longer. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawThe Heat ran this play in the 3rd quarter of their game 5 win over the Pacers. The actions is very similar to the play posted here http://www.fastmodelsports.com/library/basketball/fastdraw/2187/play-Elbow-Weak-Stagger The difference is instead of 4 screening 1 into a 2 man game with 3, 4 turns back to set the ball screen. Haslem's man was zoning the middle of the lane to protect a back door cut, a hard curl, or a slip. By having Haslem set the screen there was no type of help coverage on the ball screen and James had a wide open 17 ft. jump shot. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawMiami opened the 3rd quarter of their game 5 win over the Pacers with this elbow set. Utilizing down screens, hand offs, and ball screens Miami was able to open up driving lanes. The Pacers won the 1st and 4th quarter and tied the 2nd quarter but lost the 3rd quarter by 17 points. The Heat player movement, ball movement, shot making and offensive execution was excellent in this 30 point 3rd quarter. See More
