Baseline Single or Down Screen
10/09/2012For a catch and shoot player it is all about catching the ball in enough space to get his shot off. This play is good because it gives the shooter the option to come off the down screen or baseline screen. Giving the shooter options makes it a lot harder on the defender as well. Shooter needs to set his man up and not be predictable on his cut. Don’t let the defender dictate which screen you go off. Big men must head hunt and help the shooter get open by setting a good screen. This play is from the 2005-2006 Duke season. See More

09/26/2012TIGHT / CURL CUT (Screener Goes Opposite the Cutter): - 4 man fakes like he is cutting to the basket and gets his butt to the ball for a better angle on his screen - 4 man simulates a downscreen and holds for a count - The screener always goes opposite the cutter: on a TIGHT / CURL cut, the screener will pop for a shot - 1 man sweeps the ball below his knees, takes 1 dribble and passes the ball to the 4 man POCKET CUT (Cutter's defender goes underneath the screen, and gets screened): - 4 man fakes like he is cutting to the basket and gets his butt to the ball for a better angle on his screen - 4 man simulates a downscreen and holds for a count - The screener always goes opposite the cutter: on a POCKET cut, the screener will cut to the basket - 1 man sweeps the ball below his knees, takes 1 dribble and passes the ball to the 4 man FADE CUT (Cutter's defender goes underneath the screen): - 4 man fakes like he is cutting to the basket and gets his butt to the ball for a better angle on his screen - 4 man simulates a downscreen and holds for a count - The screener always goes opposite the cutter: on a FADE cut, the screener will change the angle of his screen and cut to the basket - 1 man sweeps the ball below his knees, takes 1 dribble and passes the ball to the 4 man See More
