This play was run by Cori Close and her UCLA Lady Bruins on Sunday night in their showdown with the Washington Lady Huskies. The Pac12 features one of the best levels of Women's Basketball and has the premier player in Kelsey Plum from Washington. This play starts with a DHO on the wing (if the PG reads the defense, she can keep the ball and attack the paint to the open side). A wide pin down on the weak side brings the 2 guard to the 3 pt line for a possible early catch & shoot 3 pointer if she's open. The Lady Bruins are a very disciplined team going through their options in this set. The Post at the FT line sets a back screen for a possible back door pass while on the weak side a down screen for the PG yields either a 3 point shot or dump in to the Post. A simple play which can be run out of Transition. Quick wing entry pass, clear the ball side Post man and set a "rub" screen for the trailing Post who quickly uses the screen to free himself up inside. See More

I call it 5 OUT SAME - because they initiate their offense with action on the first side of the floor. The New York Knicks ran this early offense play in the second quarter of their season opening game against the Cleveland Cavs. They used it after a timeout to get Krystaps Porzingis open for a 3 point shot. 1 reverses the ball through 4(Porzingis) to the 2. 3 (Carmelo Anthony) curls around the staggered screen and sets a screen for 4 who pops out for the shot. This play is very effective when the 3 is an effective scorer who will draw a lot of attention. The 3 leverages that attention to set a screen and free up 4 for a shot. See More

The Houston Rockets ran this play early in the first quarter of their preseason game against the New York Knicks. This play utlilizes James Harden's (1) ability to draw attention and make reads off of the ball screen. 5 screens away for 4 to make it difficult to for x4 & x5 to help on the ball screens. As 1 turns the corner 3 sets a back screen for 5 going to the rim. 1 looks to make the pass to 5 for the lob. See More

The premise of this drill is to mimic quick action in early offense. This will improve your screening, how your guys/girls catch and shoot and read the defense. On the flip side your defense will be able to not let cutters cut without being bumped and improve communication. We play a game to seven. There are three options to this drill outlined below.
