Basketball Play - 3 on 3 Get Back

3 on 3 Get Back

FastModel Sports 06/17/2016

"This drill comes from Coach Jim Boone, the Head Coach at Delta State and is called the 3 on 3 Get Back Drill. We have some teams in our conference that do a fantastic job of pushing the ball up the floor, even after made baskets. This drill teaches our guys to do this- we call it “fast break makes”. It also teaches the importance of transition defense and stopping the basketball. We keep score and go live for a set amount of time with a consequence for the team that doesn’t win." Basketball Play - Quick Hitter Lob vs 2-3 Zone

Quick Hitter Lob vs 2-3 Zone

John Zall 06/14/2016

The University of Virginia ran this to get a lob dunk versus a zone defense. The 2 slice cut through the lane and got the pass from 1 who quickly continued to reverse the ball to 3 on the left wing. The 3 then reverses course with the ball ultimately sending it back to the 1. The 4 and 5 on the baseline interchanged and set back screens on the bottom of the zone. The exchange made it tough for the zone to realize they were being screened and fight through. The 1 threw the ball up to 3 at the rim for the lob over the zone. See More

This set was put on the floor by Springfield College WBB during their practice on January 28, 2016 for an upcoming opponent. The single double action for the best shooter is a great way to allow players to read the defense and make the set less predictable. See More

Basketball Play - Oklahoma Post Iso

Oklahoma Post Iso

Kevin Bruinsma 05/16/2016

Oklahoma on offense ran a lot of dribble weave to force the defense to communicate and make decisions weather to switch hand offs, go under, open up and slide thru, or go over the top. This was one of the few actions they ran against Villanova to get the ball on the block. In this play I would recommend using your best player like Oklahoma used #24 Heild. The action is a simple rub screen to allow the post player to seal his man deeper then he normally would be able too. By using your best player to set the rub screen it forces his man to stay attached to him which creates essentially a double screen, plus the 5 man defending the post may show or offer some help in defending the best player. Basketball Play - Boston Celtics Zip Wrap

Boston Celtics Zip Wrap

Adam Spinella 05/11/2016

Brad Stevens and the Celtics dealt with Isaiah Thomas being denied for much of their series against the Atlanta Hawks, and this was one counter that Stevens came up with to utilize Thomas. By having Thomas, who was denied, set a flare screen for Jae Crowder, there was no help defense as Crowder caught the ball uncontested on the wing. See More
