Favorite Send to FastDrawThe Chicago Bulls ran this simple post-up play to get Carlos Boozer two points on the block in Game 1 versus the Miami Heat. This is a play that the Bulls run almost religiously every night and have several different ways to get into it. Here another way they ran this play a few weeks ago that ended in a pick & roll. Because Boozer is such a force inside due to his size and strength this is a very difficult action to guard. If X1 switches with X5 its more than likely an immediate score and if X1 holds until X5 recovers 1 will be open for a shot popping out. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawDuring Game 4 of the 2008 NBA Finals between the Lakers and Celtics, Doc Rivers ran this quick post-up action out of an elbow set. The key to this is having 3 push their defender over top or at least get them between themself and the rim in order to button hook into a post and seal. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawThe Michigan Wolverines ran this Half-Court Set versus Louisville in the 2013 National Championship game. The key to this action is 2 MUST set a great screen on 3 to open up the post-up and also make it easier for 2 to get open off the pin-down from 5. To see every play Michigan ran during the 2013 Final Four check out my ebook, Championship Execution. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawLate in game 4 of the 2014 Playoffs the Chicago Bulls were in need of a score as they trailed the Washington Wizards. Tom Thibodeau drew up this sideline out of bounds play in a timeout which resulted in a mid-range jumper from Carlos Boozer. This is a great play as it gives you multiple quick inbound and scoring options. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawIn game 1 of the 2014 NBA Playoffs West Semi-Finals, the Portland Trailblazers ran this screen the screener pick & roll action. This play was executed with excellent timing and spacing which allowed 4 to be open on the throwback. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawThe UCONN Huskies ran this play in the 2014 National Championship game. This action allowed for multiple scoring options from their very versatile five players on the court. Favorite Send to FastDrawThe Miami Heat ran this play to get Lebron James running off an Iverson Cut. Wade who is the 2 man follows James' Iverson cut and dribbles the ball to the top of the key. Miami uses James star power as a mis-direction and as Wade dribbles to the top following James the 5 man sets a cross screen in the lane for Chris Bosh who just got done screening for James on the Iverson cut. Wade turns back and passes to Bosh popping to the cleared out side. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawThis set led to a wide open #21 Tim Duncan 15 foot jump shot in the NBA Finals between the San Antonio Spurs and Miami Heat. In a horns set they utilized a flex screen to get into the action. This forced Duncan's man to defend something else before he popped up to the FT line. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawWith #6 Lebron James playing the 4 for the Miami Heat it allowed them to run a lot of stuff with the 4 handling the ball against the Spurs in the NBA Finals. They ran this deep stagger set to get the ball to #34 Ray Allen. Ray Allen does an outstanding job of getting his defender on his side or behind him, and burrying him deep. He runs off the stagger screen and scores off a wide open 12 footer. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawThe first video clip is a simple side ball screen with a double screen on the weak side of the floor. The interesting thing about this action is the spacing UK uses on the weak side of the floor. The double screen is set just inside of the three-point line which is more commonly seen in NBA sets where defenses have to play tighter to their man due to everyone on the floor being able to make shots. Kentucky ends up getting a lay-up in the post out of this action as Wisconsin can’t over help with the double screen being right below the 3-point line. The second video clip is a ball screen set at the top of the key to an open side of the floor. If the guard can’t attack the open space he throws back to the popping 4 man who looks for his own shot. On his catch the 3 man that’s stacked up with the 5 man slams 5’s defender so 4 has a straight line pass to 5 sealing in the lane. The deep post catch forced Wisconsin to double down and left UK’s guard wide open for a 3-point shot. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawIn the 2018 NCAA Tournament first round, Buffalo made Arizona's big front court chase its undersized lineup all over the floor, leading to numerous open shots. Here the Bulls use some misdirection action before getting into a middle ball screen. NCAA Tournament - XsOs Behind the Upsets See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawThis triangle action post feed is a very basic play in the triangle offense. I watched this then took notes. This is the first of 4 basic plays of the offense. This play can be used on any post feed from either side. The Jordan Bulls, and Kobe / Shaq Lakers ran this very well. The 2014-15 Derek Fisher Knicks also use this post entry look. The Steve Kerr Warriors use multiple post entry looks See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawOption #3 of the basic triangle is the entry to the free throw line. The first look is in the post, then reversal for the pinch post option. If both of those are overplayed then look at the cutter from the backside to the foul line. The "blind pig" backdoor play is set up if the defense is overplayed See More
