Favorite Send to FastDrawGeorgia Tech ran this ATO using multiple false motion actions late in their game against Notre Dame. Their goal was to ultimately get the ball in 2's hands for a high PNR with his teammates spread around the perimeter. The play started with a ball reversal to 2 with 4 screening for 5 to start the elbow action. 2 passes to 5 at the elbow to start the next false motion action. As 2 screens for 1 for the rub screen at the elbow, x2 has to provide help on 1. This frees up 2 to get the pass back from 5 and start the ball screen with less pressure on the ball. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawMichigan State Head Coach Tom Izzo has one of the most extensive offensive playbooks in Division I. Here is a a version of the old NBA "Hawk" set PG dribble enters clearing the wing and then the "Hawk" screen is set sending the 2 guard ball side for a possible quick hit pass The play continues with a double stagger for the cutter off ball reversal and then when nothing is open a quick throwback to the wing for a screen-the-screener action trying to free the 5 under the basket If nothing in the Post is free, the screen is set at the FT Line and the 5 having relocated sprints-to-screen at the TOK See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawTexas A&M ran this play multiple times in their game against Florida. The Aggies use false motion to help set up the double screen for a 3 point shot. The ball reversal and cuts from the guards shifts the defense and the pindown for 1 gets the ball back in their point guard's hands. Once 1 has the ball, 3 cuts off of a double screen from 5 & 4. 1 passes to 3 for the shot. See More

Two rules at play here: If you are in a single gap and the ball looks at, dribbles at or pivots at you, cut to the basket and replace to space usually a corner Attack double gaps with the dribble Contact us for more on conceptual offense teaching points. Favorite Send to FastDrawOffensive landmarks Problem With Single Gaps On a stationary pass to a static player, the defender is closer to the ball than the receiver. Makes it difficult to complete pass and vulnerable to the steal. Problem With Single Gaps On penetration into the single gap the defender (X3) is quick to help and quick to recover on the pass out. No advantage is gained. Problem With Single Gaps The backdoor pass may be available, BUT if help arrives the only option available is a pass back out to perimeter. There is no open pass to the rim. Problem With Single Gaps With sagging defense, no backdoor cuts are available See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawThis play was run by Cori Close and her UCLA Lady Bruins on Sunday night in their showdown with the Washington Lady Huskies. The Pac12 features one of the best levels of Women's Basketball and has the premier player in Kelsey Plum from Washington. This play starts with a DHO on the wing (if the PG reads the defense, she can keep the ball and attack the paint to the open side). A wide pin down on the weak side brings the 2 guard to the 3 pt line for a possible early catch & shoot 3 pointer if she's open. The Lady Bruins are a very disciplined team going through their options in this set. The Post at the FT line sets a back screen for a possible back door pass while on the weak side a down screen for the PG yields either a 3 point shot or dump in to the Post. After screening, the screener pops to the wing, receives the throwback pass and the option to post your 3 presents itself. If you're not watching Women's basketball on the West Coast, you should be!! Favorite Send to FastDrawThe Philadelphia 76ers started the play with an entry pass into 5 at the elbow area. 4 and 1 set a staggered screen for 3 as 5 dribbles to the wing to look at 2 in the post. 5 then turns around to pass to 3 coming off the stagger screen. 2 cuts off the pindown screen from 5. 2 receives the pass from 3 and looks to shoot or drive. Favorite Send to FastDrawThe New York Knicks used a wrinkle in this familiar post set to get Krystaps Porzingas (4) an open 3 point shot. The play started with 4 cutting off of the screen for 1 into the post. 4 then sets a back screen for 2 and cuts off of the down screen from 1. 5 passes to 4 for the shot. See More
