This is my favorite Brad Stevens set that he runs at the end of games when his team needs a 3 point shot and it almost always results in an open look for Avery Bradley. Beginning with the player you want to receive the flare screen, he zipper cuts to the top of the key as a decoy. After the zipper cut, a guard on the weakside block sets a backscreen for a big (3-4 man) to cut toward the rim on the opposite side of the key and receive a pass. Considering the time and score, the Golden State Warriors wanted to play sound defense and definitely not give up a three-pointer. At the same time, they did not want to give up a lob, which would have taken very little time off of the clock. This end of game set gave the 76ers both options and they took the corner three-pointer from an Isaiah Canaan who was on fire. This is a sideline out of bounds set to run when you need some quick points at the end of a game. See More

Last night the Cavaliers were taken to the limit against the Golden Bears of Cal. Tony Bennett designed three consecutive timeout plays each of which yielded a basket. This is the first of those timeout plays. Run from the SLOB situation, the play is set-up by the elbow screen action which gave Brogdon a chance to either "read" and cut to the basket or come back off the "re-screen" action for a possible jumper. Tony Bennett is known for his defensive strategies, but last night these timeout actions he ran with his Cavs only showed what a true mastermind of the game he is. See More
