Basketball Play - Ball Screen with Baseline Double Screen

Ball Screen with Baseline Double Screen

Basketball HQ 09/03/2014

Baseline double needs to hit the shooters defender on the screens. Shooter can choose to curl in instead of straight cut to the corner if they want, read the defender. Having multiple actions in the same play usually ends up in a good shot for your team. By using the ball screen at the top of the key you force the other teams big men to watch the play and be in the help. This allows for the shooter to come off the baseline double for the open shot in the corner. This play is from the 2005-2006 Duke season. See More

Basketball Play - Post Flash with Cross Screen

Post Flash with Cross Screen

Basketball HQ 09/03/2014

This play depends on timing and a good cross screen. If it is a smaller guard coming off of the cross screen they need to finish the layup quickly or shot fake because the help side is going to be coming for the block. This post flash cross screen basketball play is a great play to get a shot right at the basket. If you have missed a couple of long shots and are struggling to score this is a good play to run. If you are running the cross screen for a wing then they need to either finish quickly or shot fake and draw the foul. Big men will be able to take their time on the finish. This play is from the 2005-2006 Duke season. See More

Basketball Play - Duke Pin Down

Duke Pin Down

Basketball HQ 09/03/2014

Take the action away from the pin down screen by dribbling the basketball over to the opposite side and then bringing it back quickly to the pin down screen. This will allow for the shooter to get a better look without the defense being able to key in on them. This basketball play is all about misdirection. Pin down screener needs to set a good screen and shooter needs to set his man up. The shooter doesn’t have to catch and shoot the ball off the screen. He can shot fake or rip through and make a play for himself or a teammate. This play is from the 2005-2006 Duke season. See More

Rim Run Drill

Kyle Gilreath 08/27/2014

One reason many of the bigs out of the University of Florida have so much success professionally is that Head Coach Billy Donovan puts them through numerous drills from the NBA level to prepare them. This drill-set is from today's NBA Draft Combine and one that Coach Donovan utilizes very often with his talented bigs. Not only is this a great conditioning drill, but also allows you to put your bigs in multiple situations in small window. See More

Basketball Play - Randolph Drill

Randolph Drill

Fabian McKenzie 08/27/2014

This is a tremendous early season conditioning drill. It is a very tough drill to do when you stress that the players get to the corners and take no shortcuts. We will do this for 1 minute on each side building up to 3-4 minutes a side. You can choose the dribble moves they use and also what type of finish you would like at the rim. Lastly, once they know the drill, when you want to run sprints, suicides, lines, etc. think of running this instead. Lots of handling, passing and finishing. See More
