Favorite Send to FastDrawThis is a nice zone set from the 2008-2009 season from the Uconn vs. Gonzaga game in late December. This is a very nice set to get your main post player an isolation on the block. The double high ball screens also allow your guards to get penetration and kicks as well. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawThis is a baseline out of bounds play my dad had a ton of success with during his 30 year tenure at Titusville High School. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawTom Izzo does a really good job with his half court sets and this is just another example of putting people in positions where they can score This was the Spartans opening play ran against Indiana See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawA set that I saw Army run against Navy last week. The 2 man has to set it up like he is just cutting through on the normal shuffle action and then recieves the screen from 3. Army finished with the down screen, but the elevator option would also work. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawDuring the 2002 World Championships, the New Zealand national team finished 4th in the tournament. This was a set utilized by them. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawNo player in NBA history has ever been more criticized for his late game play than LeBron James. Anytime he passes the ball in a close game, people begin to question whether or not he has the mental fortitude to be a winner. Thankfully, LeBron won a title last season and now all of that talk is gone. Now we can start appreciating his unselfish play in crunchtime, which is a good thing for all basketball fans. Here is a play that the Heat used down four to the Toronto Raptors in overtime last week that I call Horns Flare. Miami is going to utilize every player on the court in some way or another and the end result of the play is a wide open three for Ray Allen, which is probably the best outcome you can think of in a close game. Favorite Send to FastDrawETSU is coached by Murray Bartow who at a young age learned his trade as the son of Gene Bartow and also having worked for Bobby Knight. He last led ETSU to the NCAA Tournament in 2010 and this is a good set play they ran in their game against USC Upstate for post entry or a quick 3. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawLast night I drew up this quick action to get one of my players a bucket in his 1st game back after injury! See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawNice little set sent by Marty Gross from Texas A&M Corpus Christi. I believe he originally called it "Veney Action". See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawA set Michigan ran against Ohio State for Trey Burke. The triple ballscreen comes pretty naturally out of this action and with the roll and replace options could be really hard to guard if you have a good pg. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawThis is an action I have modified in the half-court to get the ball in baseline out of bounds going the length of the court. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawSet play ran by the University of Miami in their upset win over the Duke Blue Devils See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawThis is a warm up drill that we used almost every day when I was the head coach at Penn State Beaver. I got this dril from Billy Lange when I worked his camp at the Naval Academy in 2008. This simple, but effective, drill worked on our mechanics and emphasized all aspects of great shooting technique. Players are able to keep alignment, get on their toes when shooting and holding follow through in this drill. In addition, they really can see which way they are missing because of the use of hte side of the backboard. This drill can be used for time (2 minutes) or amount of shots or makes. I would also work on our two step layups or add another shooter at the front of the rim to utilize my players and the rims more efficiently. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawThe Portland Trail Blazers have one of the least productive benches in the history of basketball, but the Blazers are still in the playoff picture in the Western Conference because of how well head coach Terry Stotts manages his line-ups. Ronnie Price, Will Barton and Meyers Leonard is not a strong offensive trio, but Stotts stacks his rotation so that LaMarcus Aldridge and Nicolas Batum can help this line-up produce offensively. Aldridge and Batum are two very versatile forwards, and you can see in this play how their skillsets bring an otherwise poor second unit to life. Video of the play here. See More
