"Off" is another great set to run as a counter if your team has an offense that incorporates the Iverson cut. One of the strongest parts of this set the spacing and the opportunities that the offense has as a result. 5 ducking in hard in front of the rim is a great option and 2 has a lot of room to create coming off of the ball screen. This may be the Miami Heat's most successful offensive set outside of the ball screen. They do a really great job of getting Lebron James a catch right in the middle of the floor. He can drive, shoot, or wait for the action on the weak side to take place. The action is a big screen by 5 (Chris Bosh) on 2 (Dwayne Wade) so all three of the Heat's big 3 are involved. When the 5 man backs off to protect on 2's cut the ball gets passed to Bosh for a shot. If the 2 doesn't help the ball goes to the back cut for Wade. See More

Here is a set play that Bucknell ran in the NCAA tournament this year against Butler. This is a counter to a similar action that they ran earlier in the same game. In the previous play 2 would cut to the corner opposite the ball and 1 would hit 3 on the wing for an ISO. In this counter 2 stops his cut under the basket and pops to the top of the key for a catch and shoot opportunity. This is an effective set when coupled with the previously described play. The Miami Heat ran this set for Ray Allen against the Indiana Pacers in the Eastern Conference Finals. They curled him around a double screen, to create seperation. Once Allen gets to the middle of the paint he slows down and re-evaluates where the defense is and can choose to turn around and run off a stagger or continue and run off the single. Against the Pacers he ran off the single which happened to be Lebron James who dove to the rim after setting his screen. See More

Here they sent #55 Roy Hibbert up immediatly on the catch to set a ball screen for George while clearing out the left side of the floor.
