Basketball Play - 2 Swing

2 Swing

Kyle Gilreath 07/10/2013

Tuesday morning during their NBA Orlando Summer League game the Boston Celtics ran this post up action for Kelly Olynyk. What I love about this plays is usueally teams post up the player where the 3 is after 2 tries to rub into X3. But since X5 has to sit outside the lane or touch 5 this is a great set to run in the NBA because the floor is spaced for a nice post up on the block. See More

Basketball Play - Single with Baseline Double

Single with Baseline Double

Basketball HQ 10/30/2012

If your best basketball player is a pure shooter and doesn’t really put the ball down on the floor well then it is going to be absolutely key that you have plenty of screens for him to get good looks. This basketball play is exactly what it sounds like. The shooter sets a single screen, then cuts off of the baseline double screen. Screeners need to set good legal screens and shooter needs to read his defender and come off the right screen. Screeners need to be ready to catch and finish the ball if their man helps too much on the shooter. This play is from the 2005-2006 Duke season. See More

Basketball Play - UCCS Zone Lob

UCCS Zone Lob

Wes Kosel 03/25/2015

Here is a zone lob play used by head coach Jeff Culver at UCCS (University of Colorado-Colorado Springs). The UCCS Mountain Lions had an incredible season going 27-6 and winning the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Tournament Championship over Metro State. This play was used to get Derrick White (25.8 ppg) a dunk against a 2-3 zone defense. The play starts with the ball moving to the wing and back to the point guard. With White on the wing, a back-screen is set as he sneaks in behind the defense for a lob and a dunk. See More

Basketball Play - Georgetown 4 Around 1

Georgetown 4 Around 1

Andrew Greer 03/19/2015

Georgetown ran this 4 around 1 set throughout their Round 2 matchup with Eastern Washington. The Hoyas used several different variations of the set utilizing the similar setup but unpredictable result. The action pictured is the base set. Dribble handoffs, double screens, flare screens, and back screens were all used out of this based set. Georgetown uses a 4 out 1 in look almost every possession and can run this set with interchangeable perimeter players. See More

Play of the Day 12-27-2011: 42 PNR

FastModel Sports 12/27/2011

The 1 initiates the play by dribbling at the 2 who cuts backdoor and receives a downscreen from the 5 and cuts to the top of the key, (If the 2 defender overplays, the 2 may counter by kicking out to the short corner or 3pt. line). If the 2 does not have a shot, 4 sets a high ball screen. The 2 looks for the pull-up jumper, penetration to basket, or reads the 3 and 5 defenders to kick it out to 3 or dump off to 5. The 4 screens and makes a second cut to be the basket. See More
