Basketball Play - Terrapins 32 Hand-off Pop

Terrapins 32 Hand-off Pop

Dana Beszczynski 01/06/2014

Mark Turgeon is in his 3rd season with the Terps and led them to a 25 win season last year and an appearance in the NIT Semi-Finals This is a nice play which gives the shooter the option to read the defense and take advantage of what is given With Dez Wells, the Terps have an experienced player handling the ball with the ability to set-up the play as Coach Turgeon needs Layman is a lights out 3 pt shooter and in this play, he reads the defense jumping off the screen, quickly reacting, he cuts backdoor for a possible quick hit pass Wells makes the play work by coming back, receiving the hand-off and hitting the former Michigan State big man Smotrycz for an open 3 See More

Basketball Play - Post 5

Post 5

Dana Beszczynski 09/04/2013

The Louisville Cardinals did a good job using the screen-the-screener action initially to get their 1 man free for the inbounds pass. 3 times his screen perfectly as 1 dribbles down the wing to hit 5 flashing to the ball off 3's screen. The Cardinals do a good job opening the lane as 4 clears above the 3 pt line after setting the screen to free 1 for the inbounds pass. See More

Basketball Play - Florida DHO Action

Florida DHO Action

Dana Beszczynski 02/26/2014

The Florida Gators are one of the most exciting offensive teams to watch in the country. Head Coach Billy Donovan's sets are creative, tactically intelligent, and utilizes the strengths of his players. The Gators put their players in a position to get good shots from their sets. This DHO action moves the defense around and forces them to make quick decisions. This play really takes advantage of Young's ability to use his body inside for an easy lay-up or FT line opportunity. Basketball Play - Santa Clara Double Ball Screen

Santa Clara Double Ball Screen

Dana Beszczynski 02/11/2014

Santa Clara ran this double ball screen action the other night in their match-up against BYU. This is a good set forcing the defense to make quick decisions on who to guard. The end result is a wide open shot from the short corner on the weak side as the defender on the 4 man goes to far too help on the pin down screen. Santa Clara ran a lot of nice sets in this game and Coach Keating does a good job getting his players in spots where they can be successful in the offense. See More

Basketball Play - Knicks Pin Down Screen the Screener

Knicks Pin Down Screen the Screener

Daniel Murphy 05/13/2013

1st quarter play ran by the Knicks in thier game 5 loss to Boston. Having Felton set a down screen on Melo should prevent a switch. Much of the Celtics defense is geared to stopping Melo, so having Melo facilitate puts even more pressure on Boston's defense. Chandler set a great screen and Felton curled it perfectly for the open jumper. See More

Wing Isolation

Randy Brown 12/10/2012

Here is a good quick hitter for your 3 man. This play can surprise the defense if run out of a time out. It is also effective to force a player in foul trouble to defend your best player in the open floor. There are two additional options if 3 drive is cut off. See More

Basketball Play - Wolf Pack Guard Follow

Wolf Pack Guard Follow

Michael Bowden 11/08/2012

I saw this segment last week on ESPNU. NC State shows a great set that they run to get many different looks for different players. This set is all about timing and reading what the defense does. You might be able to get the post open on just the naked cut across the paint, of the 2 coming off the lob, the point guard coming off the ball screen, or a possible kick out from the point, the post on the cross screen, the shooter coming off the single down screen or even the 4 slipping to the basket because the defender hedged out to the shooter. This set properly ran, can be very difficult to run and might be a nice little secondary break set to throw in the second half of a game. Enjoy See More
