Favorite Send to FastDrawThis play came out of a timeout from South Carolina and shifted the momentum of the game. The key in this set is the ball reversals that make the defense ignore the weak side short corner. One of the most important concepts of attacking a zone defense is ball movement and attacking the gaps, but I’m a firm believer that screening a zone is even more dangerous. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawWhen the Bonnies saw that Dayton was denying the elbow entry pass off of their Horns set, they started off the half trying to keep the defense honest with a quick backdoor cut for an easy two points. This set is a great way to set the tone for the half to let the opposing team know that you are not afraid of their pressure. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawDuke opened up the second half with this quick hitter to get Grayson Allen an open three-pointer. They were ready for Louisville’s 3-2 zone and simply had Marshall Plumlee set a screen. This is a great way to knock a team’s confidence in their defense early on to make the opposing coach question what they are doing. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawThe best shooter in the world does not hit a high percentage of shots simply because he’s a great shooter. He also does this because he gets high percentage looks like this one. This play is spaced out well so that it allowed Stephen Curry to run his defender into his own teammates before he went around a staggered screen. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawWhen you have a few baseline out of bounds plays in a game, why not try to capitalize on them when the defense is vulnerable and score every time? This screen the screener set is a great way to get a player who likes operating around the free throw line space. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawI liked this set to open up the game because there was a lot of off ball movement. This looks like it was a read by Jaylen Brown who decided to flare the stagger screen. His defender was ready to pick him up off of the stagger screen and Brown noticed this. That led to an open three-pointer. See More

Favorite Send to FastDrawOne of my favorite actions is "Spain" action, which is my term for a backscreen for the player who just set a ballscreen. Randy Wittman has run about 6 different variations out of this concept, but we will look at the main one I think alot of teams could employ. Nearly every college team runs "Slice Stagger" action into a high ballscreen, and to add this wrinkle would be very effective as it has been for the Wizards this year. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawIf the inbounder is the most forgettable player on these types of plays, then the release option is the second most forgettable. This was an impressive set for Rick Barnes to draw up after a timeout. They a screen-the-screener play and then had all of the players space out around the perimeter. This allowed the release option to cut to the hoop for the open dunk. This play helped Tennessee separate themselves for the upset. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawThis was another great set to get an open three pointer. Having Marcus Smart pass to the elbow and do a fake handoff with Amir Johnson distracted the defense from the off ball screen Isaiah Thomas was being run through. This allowed Amir Johnson to make an easy decision by hitting Thomas for the open three. This would be a great set to run before ending a quarter or half. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawThis is a post entry and a designed hand off back to Butler from Gasol in the post for a shot or drive to the rim. The reason I beleive this is a professional set is because of the spacing the pros can play in and the skill to be able to hand off back to the player for a score. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawNice after time out set, starting with Butler on the wing and both bigs screen for him toward the sweet spot or the center at the top of the key. After Butler clears the second screen, Gasol opens up an receives the pass form the point guard. Butler times this perfect in the video and drives hard off his outside leg and sprints to the rim for a lob. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawThis is exactly like the action the San Antonio Spurs run. Because the Chicago Bulls like to post up Pau Gasol and he is an excellent passer, this set works well. Typically designed after a time out, Butler cuts off Gasol who receives the pass in the post. Giving Butler time to clear the cut is key, so the timing of the lob/backdoor cut can be perfect.
