Georgetown 5 Up Backdoor
04/12/2016BLOB, or baseline out of bounds, plays are wonderful opportunities for a backdoor action because the defense gets sucked close to their man as they deny a pass towards the rim. Georgetown's John Thompson drew up this great set to get a backdoor out of a baseline inbound situation, sucking the entire defense away from the rim in order to do so. Thompson isolates the man guarding the inbounder as well, turning him into the help defender on a backdoor. As many coaches know and communicate to their players, the offensive player inbounding the ball is always dangerous once the ball gets inbounded. By paying too close attention to the inbounder, a defensive team will have no help at the rim on a backdoor cut. See More

Kansas - Triple
03/23/2016Kansas scored on half of its baseline out of bounds sets in this game, which added up to eight points on eight opportunities. They ended up winning the game by 11 points. Having a baseline out of bounds series that is hard to guard not only makes the other coaching staff have to do work, it can be what separates your team in the postseason. UConn had scouted this play pretty well by running Devonte Graham off the line, but Graham did a great job nailing the one dribble pull-up jumper. See More

Iowa - Stagger Slip ATO
03/18/2016Iowa ran this play after a timeout with 8:43 to play in the first half against Temple. It's a very simple play, but location and execution make it difficult to defend. 2 does a good job of setting up his defender away before running off a stagger screen by 4 and 5. This forces x5 to stunt against the shooter, and that split second of opportunity allows 5 to slip to the basket for a dunk. See More

Kansas Flex 1-4 Low
03/17/2016Kansas coach Bill Self runs a Flex action out of 1-4 low formation when the ball is under their own bucket. Help defense on the first Flex screen is rarely in good position when the ball is inbounded underneath, and the man guarding the inbounder can get too attached to the inbounder.
