At the end of Game 1 versus the Oklahoma City Thunder, the Memphis Grizzlies needed a three to send Game 1 of the Western Conference Semi-Finals into Overtime. Unforunately, the shot came up short but this is still a very good play to have in your back pocket for any late game situations.
Satuday night during Game 7 of the NBA Playoffs, Tom Thibodeau drew up this End of Quarter play to give his Chicago Bulls squad momentum going into halftime versus the Brooklyn Nets. With Belinelli having such an explosive defense, Boozer's man overhelped on the 2nd screen. This gave Boozer a free lane straight to the rim.
Houston ran this sideline out of bounds play for a layup with 1.9 seconds left in the second quarter of their 105-102 game 2 loss to the Thunder 4/24/13. This play involves a flare screen, then a stagger. The play worked beautifully and if you save this for a special situation could win you a game. Timing is crucial, as Delfino was on the move as Harden was recieving the flare screen. Also make sure 5 turns to rescreen for the stagger.

The Sacramento Kings ran this play with less than a minute to go in their 112-108 loss to the Clippers on 4/17/13. DeMarcus Cousins scored 36 points in the game and this is one of back to back inbounds plays he scored on. Although you might not have DeMarcus Cousins on your team, this will work for your best post player or any other player who you feel has a mismatch in the foul line area.
The Sacramento Kings ran this sideline inbounds play with less than one minute left in their 112-108 loss to the Clippers on 4/17/2013. DeMarcus Cousins had a big game scoring 36 points and scored on two inbounds plays with less than a minute left to keep the game close. If you have a matchup advantage it is a good idea to isolate the scorer and let them do what they do best.
At the end of regulation of Game 4 versus the Brooklyn Nets, Chicago Bulls head coach Tom Thibodeau drew up this play to force overtime. The play did not directly lead to a score but did put Joakim Noah into position for the tip-in.
Saturday night during Game 1 of the NBA Playoffs versus the Memphis Grizzlies, LA Clippers head coach Vinny Del Negro drew up this play at the end of the first half to try and get Chris Paul good luck before the buzzer.
Wednesday night Kevin McHale drew up this quick action to get a score before heading into overtime of Game 2 of the NBA Playoffs versus the Oklahoma City Thunder. With the defense so consumed with Harden possibly coming back off another screen from Smith, they left Delfino wide open for a lay-up.
This sideline out of bounds quick hitter was run by Marquette to win a game at the buzzer vs St. John's. The design of the play is simple, but watch how it sets up 3 offensive rebounders with lanes to the glass for a putback.
Last night after a fierce comeback against the Indian Pacers late in the 4th quarter, the Chicago Bulls' Tom Thibodeau drew up with Sideline Out of Bounds action to get a much needed 3 pointer to tie the game. Unfortunately for the Windy City team, the shot came up short.
The majority of Joe Johnson's clutch shots for the Nets this season have come on the infamous ISO-Joe plays that made Johnson's Atlanta Hawks' teams a bit of an eye sore on offense. To Johnson's credit, he's been remarkably efficient in one-on-one situations late in games this year, and he even hit the game-winner later in this game on an isolation possession.
But down three with 6.7 seconds left in the game against the Milwaukee Bucks the other night, P.J. Carlesimo went away from ISO ball and drew up a beautiful elevator screen sequence to get Johnson a wide open look at a three from the top of the key. Unphased by the moment, Johnson executed his cut perfectly and he got good screens from his teammates, allowing him to tie things up and send the game to overtime.
