Favorite Send to FastDrawFollowing drill was a part of a skill packet we mailed out to coaches when I was at the University of Florida. Yesterday I posted phase 1 of the build up with the 2-on-1. A 2nd defender is added whose main job is to spring back down the floor and get back into the play. Start with the same set-up as you did in the 2-on-1 drill, but place the 2nd defender under the rim. The 2nd defender’s goal is to get to the inside track of the player opposite of the ball. Just like in the 2-on-1 drill, the offensive players are trying to attack the rim to score, remaining 2-3 feet outside of the lane. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawFollowing drill was a part of a skill packet we mailed out to coaches when I was at the University of Florida. Two offensive players start 2-3 feet outside of the lane along the baseline. Start the defensive player at the free-throw line. Drill starts with a coach holding a ball around the free-throw line area, and passing it to one of the offensive players. Once the ball is passed, the defensive player should immediately turn and sprint to half-court and get down in a defensive stance with active hands. The offensive players should remain 2-3 feet outside of the lane as they attack the other end. They should not be too wide, so the defense can recover, and not be too close, so the defense is able to cover both players. The offensive player with the ball should not pass the ball until the defense totally commits to him (bounce pass for lay-up). If the defense does not commit, shoot a lay-up. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawThis roll closeout drill takes place in tight quarters and allows for a challenge at the rim. The Robert Morris MBB staff emphasized contact/collisions when putting this drill on the floor at their Elite Camp (June 21st, 2008). See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawThis 1 on 1 drill was used at the Robert Morris MBB Elite Camp (June 21st, 2008) by Mike Rice and Andy Toole. It is a great drill to put pressure on the offensive player by making them constantly attack the rim. See More

Favorite Send to FastDrawGreat drill to teach players how to take ground from a defender, make a move based on speed and direction of the defense, and pull up into a jump shot. It also allows for a great pace. See More

Favorite Send to FastDrawIf you're like me, you HATE the traditional three-man weave drill because players don't take it serious, players make bad passes, players travel during the drill and players shoot uncontested lay-ups (which rarely happens in games). Here's two great variations of the three-man weave that are actually game-like and will get your players better! Favorite Send to FastDrawThis drill is an alternative to the 11 man break, or continuous 3 on 2 fastbreak. This is a 2 on 1 with a defender trailing at all times. This makes offense attack in a game like situation. The drill can get confusing but the more the players run it, the more they get used to it. It is good for teams that are low on numbers, and a good conditioner. See More
