Basketball Play - 5 Out "Backdoor" Dribble Drive

5 Out "Backdoor" Dribble Drive

Matt Hackenberg 12/10/2021

We modify our dribble drive attack from 4 Out to 5 Out and use passing and cutting to create double gaps to drive. This action works best against pressure man defense and allows for tempo control by the offense. I love the offense from a developmental standpoint, teaching cutting, catching, passing and pivoting. Basketball Play - High Ball Screen Continuity Offense: "Flow"

High Ball Screen Continuity Offense: "Flow"

Matt Hackenberg 12/10/2021

This is a breakdown of an offense we call "Flow." Flow is three guard, two forward offense that is a hybrid of a ball screen offense and dribble drive concepts. It has options to attack driving gaps and play pick and roll. I really think the roll and replace concept is hard to guard, and we often found the replacing big wide open at the top of the key. Obviously, playmaking guards are a centerpiece to this concept. Basketball Play - 1-3-1 Zone Offense: Low Back Screen Continuity - "Bear"

1-3-1 Zone Offense: Low Back Screen Continuity - "Bear"

Matt Hackenberg 12/10/2021

This offense was implemented to help incorporate constant screening and cutting into a continuity offense. There are options to score on cuts, post ups, down screening and slips. We've found wrinkles and set plays from within the base offense that have been effective. Basketball Play - 4 Out, 1 In: Primary Break

4 Out, 1 In: Primary Break

Matt Hackenberg 12/10/2021

We run a structured sideline break to advance makes with pace. A commitment to run is necessary, but we only spend 7-10 minutes a day to ingrain the habits of pushing on both makes and misses. The rim sprint is the most important factor in the primary break as it leads to many easier scoring opportunities. Basketball Play - Euro Ball Screen (2-3 Zone Quick Hitter)

Euro Ball Screen (2-3 Zone Quick Hitter)

Matt Hackenberg 12/10/2021

Skip to 6:30 mark of the embedded video below. The diagrams and video show how using the Euro Ball Screen Offense against 1-3 zone functions. We ran this as a set every year we had the Euro Ball Screen Offense installed and it worked very well 2-3 times per game against zone. After that, the defense tended to figure it out. Basketball Play - Zone Motion

Zone Motion

Matt Hackenberg 12/09/2021

Our base zone offense was a 4-Out alignment with our 5 player on the baseline behind the zone. The guards were to pass and cut to heart of the defense, and then take a step back towards the ball. If they don't get the ball, they are to vacate to the open side. We wanted movement on the perimeter with a constant revolving middle player, and penetration into the gaps.
