Favorite Send to FastDrawHere is a SLOB set from the Portland Trailblazers. This set can get you a lay-up coming off the flex cut, or a lob coming off the back screen. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawInstead of point guard passing to the wing, he passes to trailing big who reverses to opposite wing, on this reversal the first big man in the post follows the ball. After, both the point guard and big set a double stagger screen for the guard on opposite wing, coming to look for a shot. If no shot is there, then it flows into Horns and they have multiple options out of this, they can go into a double screen, a pindown into a dribble hand off and multiple flex options off of it. With this typically you will see the point guard coming up the floor holding up his bicep and flexing, hence the "Strong." See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawDesigned to create the sense that Golden State would post up a player off their normal flex screen, this is really a set fo get Steph Curry or Klay Thompson a shot. After the ball is entered into the post, the defense tends to relax, so when they relax Klay/Steph sprint off a quick screen from 5 for a shot. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawThis play comes from the 13-14 Celtics, and is a simple flex screen-down screen pick the picker play. The action is very common to the NBA, but starting the play out of a Horns P/R is a twist that Brad Stevens added to the play. This sets up the next play, Horns 24, quite nicely. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawBrad Stevens took an underrated and a Boston Celtic team that had mid season trades and were expecting to head for an early draft pick to the playoffs. He is one of the best basketball minds in the NBA, and he runs a nice set for Isaiah Thomas with multiple options off of it. It starts with a dribble handoff to the trailing big and the point guard cuts off backscreen from the opposite big man at the elbow. The first option is for the point guard to "V" cut back off at the elbow and look for a shot opportunity. If there is not shot available, 5 will step up and set a ballscreen, because of the dribble handoff 4 is already spacing the floor, so the Spread Pick & Roll doesn't need to be setup. The next option is for 1 to continue off backscreen and set a flex screen for the wing man and then receive a down screen from 4. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawGolden State Warriors run alot of their sets in the flow of their offense based on reads. They run double stagger, one down and flex actions out of their base offense that end up in Horns. This set is a wrinkle out of the base motion that is designed to get Draymond Green cutting to the rim for a layup. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawThis is as play I drew up for a group of 6th graders after showing them clips of the Golden State Warriors elevator sets. GSW tends to run them out of horns with some flex cuts and screens but I tried to simplify it for the youngsters. They tried it in a game recently and worked on the second try for a made 3. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawCoach Krzyzewski has had some fantastic post players over the years. From Elton Brand to Jahlil Okafor, Christian Laettner to Shelden Williams, all these players could convert at an extremely high percentage in a post-isolation situation. Coach K, in keeping with an up-tempo style of offense, got the ball into the post quickly for a clear-out situation in a play he's run for years called "release". This is a great action for a team with a dominant post scorer. If you teach 5 to engage in contact as soon as his man helps off the flex screen, he can get great, deep scoring position and have a chance to get to the free throw line or bang in a layup. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawThis baseline out-of-bounds play is not just a way to get the ball in. It gives two solids options to get a good look in the paint. It can be run against man or zone. It has a higher potential to be run against zone because of the cutting action but it is essential that if it is run against zone that the screener hits his man. This play is one I took from my father who has coaches youth basketball for over a decade and it has been his most succesful baseline out-of-bounds play. Also since it ends up in four players on the baseline, Flex can be run from it after the ball is inbounded. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawOklahoma State uses this backscreen continuity offense. It has flex elements and screen-the-screener action. They use a great shooter (Phil Forte) to set backscreens. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawIn Game 2 of the 2014 NBA Final, LeBron James went on a scoring streak in the 2nd half and became unguardable. The Spurs did a very good job guarding him, he was just unconscious. If you watch the Heat you know that Erik Spoelstra loves running elbow actions that usually go into a flex or some kind of hand-off with a weak side pin-down. However, on this set he got the ball to the hot hand, LeBron, by running the double curl action. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawThis BLOB used year after year by Clarion WBB incorporates a flex cut, and downscreen. The box alignment allows for multiple variations. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawHere is an out of bounds play we use late in the game, when a team is playing us M-2-M under. It allows us to create mismatches on teams that will swtich the screening action or we will hit the flex cut for a score. See More
