Basketball Play - Elbow Chase

Elbow Chase

Doug Brotherton 04/24/2017

When building your playbook for next season, we want to give you some things to consider. For example, do your sets have anything that make them easy to scout? Do they all start from different formations? Is it difficult to flow from the base offense, into the sets? Do they all use the same action? Do the sets lack versatility? These are all challenges, which coaches must consider, and do not realize until they face the best teams on their schedule. The "Elbow Series" below is an example of some sets that check all of the necessary boxes, which make them a solid addition to your playbook. Read More: http://bit.ly/2pbH6L1 See More

Basketball Play - Atlanta Hawks - UCLA High Low Lob

Atlanta Hawks - UCLA High Low Lob

Matt Wheeler 04/26/2017

The Atlanta Hawks ran this play to get a great look for a lob after a time out in their playoff game against the Washington Wizards.. A common action in this set is 2 coming of the stagger screen for a shot. In this play the Hawks used that action as a decoy and then 3 slipped the screen to the short corner. This cleared the help defense and put their 5 in a one on one position in the post. 5 then fakes the duck in and spins off of his man to catch the lob pass for the dunk. See More

Basketball Play - Lob Sets - Box Special

Lob Sets - Box Special

Doug Brotherton 05/22/2017

"Box Special" is a lob set, which we ran regularly at Mid Michigan Community College. If the lob is not available, the back screener out cuts. There is the potential for a shot, or a high/low pass. If X4 helps, then the point guard will be open on the baseline screen. The multiple options to this set made it a great set to run early in games. See More

Basketball Play - Golden State Warriors UCLA Rip

Golden State Warriors UCLA Rip

Adam Spinella 05/22/2017

Because Steve Kerr has the luxury of utilizing some of the best shooters in the world, he runs great actions like this one designed specifically for them. In UCLA Rip, he places two shooters on the same side and runs them in a three-man pattern with Draymond Green at the 4. The screening and attention paid to their shooters helps the backdoor pass from Green be effective -- which is why the two players not involved in the action must be lifted on the opposite side of the floor. South Korea (W) - UCLA Rip

Ryan Nguyen 07/28/2017

UCLA Offense from South Korea that they've been running at FIBA Asia Cup Women 2017. Rather than passing the ball to 3 on the wing to initiate the UCLA entry, 4 sets a ball-screen for 1. As 1 comes off the screen, 3 loops to the basket and pops for a catch from 1. On 4's catch, 5 sets a weak-side flare screen for 2. 5 then pops out for a catch from 4. 3 sets a rip screen for 4. 5 looks to lob to 4 cutting to the basket. See More

Basketball Play - South Korea (W) - UCLA Punch Split

South Korea (W) - UCLA Punch Split

Ryan Nguyen 07/28/2017

UCLA Offense from South Korea that they've been running at FIBA Asia Cup Women 2017. This is a wrinkle out of their UCLA offense. Rather than 1 cutting to the basket looking to receive a pass, 1 screens for 4 underneath the basket. 4 cuts into a post-up. 3 and 5 then play split game. 3 comes off the flare screen from 5 looking for a shot or drive to the middle. 5 slips to the basket.
